Kudo's Part 3 and a Mini Tutorial

This is "Kudos for Comments" part 3 and the last for a while...  But I had wanted to thank not only #1000 and the longest reader but the reader who comments most often...  I didn't even have to go through the lists to know this person..  Susan Elliott..  In fact if Susan doesn't comment I worry about the blog post...  She was almost the longest also as she first commented on my 5th blog post...

Since she already has one of my pincushions, I painted her a Santa button and made it into an ornament for her...  Thank you Susan for your many many thoughtful comments over all this time!!!!

And here is how I did it.... First I put a 2 1/2" card stock circle on a 6" silk circle with a touch of glue to hold it in place.  Then I gathered it "yoyo" style..

Then I added some small lace around the Santa and a lace medallion to the silk.  I put it together adding a loop in the back and  some bells to the bottom.
This would be fun with any Christmas button and easy enough for youngsters to do..

And here is a close up of the Santa... which is about 1 1/2".   Merry Christmas everyone!

Holy Smokes!!!!! What a lucky lucky girl I am! I love the big man in the red hat and our buttons is gorgeous! What a treasure to have on my tree! I love your blog Gerry and have many fond fond images in my head of your life, your quilts and your adventures.

I fell in love with you the first time I saw you on a tractor! I thought that was so cool....that, and the fact that you created a bird sanctuary in the desert...and that you have a magpie's nest that you watch...that you have a path that goes through a forest that you planted...I still love that small "garden house" made from old windows and doors...and well...the list goes on and on...like you bottle feeding lambs...and digging up the broken pipe when Will wasn't available...and I haven't even gotten to your stitching...

Your beaded birds...your ode to daffodils block...your suffrage quilt and bicycles...your painted buttons...your a wonder and a whiz and it's a joy to visit your blog...both blogs!!!!

Thank you for being a part of my life...

Hurray for Susan and what a cute ornament! I have made ornaments every year with the kids and since they have grown up I've started the same tradition with the grandkids. They have made their ornaments this year so I'll have to remember this for next year!

Cute Santa! Merry Christmas to you, Gerry!

Susan is a lucky girl! You did a great job painting a face on that small button. I have the rose button you sent me above my sewing machine, I think I will make an ornament from it using your directions!

How cool is this pin, Gerry!? It is so you, with the lace and the painted button. If I saw someone wearing this anywhere in the world, I would know you made it. Gorgeous!

I think this was a good idea for a giveaway. I know your right about people who only leave comments when they see or hear the words giveaway. So your idea to give something to the people who had been leaving comments was a great idea.
