My best friend!

Sunday mid-morning I found my dog in the tall grass unable to get up. I immediately rushed him to the vet and they started an IV and kept him. Vet said he had a severe case of food poisoning. He is home now and I am just able to start him on soft food ...2 Tablespoons at a time and still giving him an antibiotic. He is VERY weak.

It's driving us crazy to know what caused it and have searched the property. This is a dog that is not only extremely particular about his food, he wants it cut up in small pieces to boot. Our female dog will eat anything yukky but NOT Fritz... We do have one neighbor I suspect of putting out poisoned bait for the coyotes (which are my friends) but can't imagine how it could get to our farm... Big mystery. His first night home he slept against my back with his nose tucked under the small of my neck. He couldn't get any closer if he tried. He's on the mend now because today he barked at the vacuum cleaner....

Arent they wonderful? I have too many animals, but I dont know what I would do without any one of them. We also have a neighbor that puts out strychnine (not a friend) and traps for coyotes and have lost one dog to it, almost two. I dont know how she did it, but she has lived through it twice. To be honest, I dont know if he has ever killed a coyote with his traps and poison, but I know he has killed many neighborhood dogs. Since we live out of town, there isnt anything we can do about it.
Hope Fritz makes a full recovery, he is a beautiful dog.

Gerry, I am so sorry to hear about this. I know how devastating it is when your friend is ill. But I am glad that he is on the mend. I had to nurse my Minnie Me like that when he got run over and his jaw was broken. The first and last time DH let him on the bed with me! Lyn G

Dear Gerry, I'm so glad Fritz is on the mend. It's so scary when one of our loved ones is ill! Hopefully you can find out where the poison came from! Hugs to you and Fritz. Cathy

Gerry: I always enjoy your super-creative stitching, but I didn't know that you were a corgi-mama! I'm so glad you got to Fritz in time and that he is on the mend. We are currently dogless because we're not sure how well our aging cat, Katie the Younger, would deal with a pup or even a rescue Corgi. However, I'm in love with the Corgi breed; I have a friend who is owned by a delightfully sweet female. I know when and if we are able to move, we will take the plunge. Your stitching is so artistic, I want to be you when I grow up! hugs, LouAnne
