Overall preview and mother frustrations

Here is a rough overall preview of all nine block.. the buttons and lots of fine tuning remain but I'm taking a break to work on smaller projects while I sit with my mother and.................

that's why there have been so few posts... My relationship with my mother has always been trying.  If I had to pick three adjectives to describe her they would be negative, stubborn, and critical..and that's at the best of times.  Now she is 94.  She hears what she wants to hear when she's at a doctor's office and if she doesn't like what she hears, she goes to a different doctor.  Consequently her doctors are reduced to those who just give her lots of pills and out the door. She dislikes drinking fluids and hates water.  So it is a revolving door to the hospital with dehydration and kidney and bladder problems.  Then they send her to a rehab facility who insist on physical therapy which she hates and refuses to do.. So they send her back to assisted living even worse for wear and it all starts again.

The blocks look so wonderful all together. I will wait anxiously to see the whole thing done. The only complaint is that when they are all together they don't get much larger when I click on the picture - I want to look at so many bits. Sorry to hear about your frustrations with your Mom. I'm sure all the cqers who know you are sending you big hugs.

This quilt is an AWARD WINNER!! Seeing them all together, I can see the brilliance of the composition. The time you took to get the sepia tones correct on your images before you printed them has made all the difference. The pictures aren't just plopped into the quilt but instead, the quilt was built around the pictures. It makes a huge difference and it shows. I love that each component in this quilt has meaning and a purpose for its placement on the quilt. It's SUCH a wonderful job Gerry. Take the time to finish it well because it deserves it. I'm sorry about your Mom...but I'll write you an email about that one.

Gerry ~ this is looking fabulous! It has been a joy to follow you on this one. While I would never have done the black and old gold/copper tones you have used, it's really grown on me as I've watched these blocks come together! So perfect for the time frame depicted!

So sorry to hear of all you are having to cope with regarding your mother. Prayers for strength and fortitude for you!

I, too, can't wait to see these all up close in the finished quilt. I wonder what the "votes for women" block would look like in the center? Oh, isn't it fun to put a quilt together, so many possibilities. May you have the courage of these women all combined in dealing with your mother. Hugs.

Gerry, your work on the quilt is beautiful and this will be a treasure. I'm so sorry about your mother. It sounds like she's always been stubborn, and growing older only made it worse. I wish you much patience and that she will drink more of something, even if it isn't water.
