Sky behind house

I took time this afternoon and patched the sky behind the house.  I knew I would worry over it until it was done as I only had a handful of scraps of those colors.  Since the silk house was stitched in place, it was a delicate operation.

Each patch had to be hand cut and hand stitched and I just barely had enough fabric. I ended with one small piece extra.

The seams now can be fly stitched to match the left side.  But I can do that later and for now pin it on a board until I have more time...

You might be as surprised as I was that one item on our supply list was an acid-free glue stick and we used it a lot.

your sky is looking very good now and love the garden. Sounds a great idea the glue, must keep an eye out for some, there are times when it would be very useful

Filling in the rest of the sky really sets off the house. It will be fun to watch all the stitching that makes it wonderful.

Ahh yes, that sky looks so very pretty! The cottage is more of a focal point now. This is going to be beautiful!

I've watched JBM's videos and seen her use the glue stick. I'm not sold on the idea myself (never having actually done it), but will be interested to know how you like it.

Beautiful sky with all of its tiny little pieces of lovely fabrics in just the softest shades. I never would have thought of using a glue stick. Thank you for sharing your progress...

Such a beautiful piece! I am partial to handwork with houses in them!
