I've also started my CQJP project for April... It not that Morris likes to chew up the thread.... he likes to chew up the spool the thread is on...but the thread always ends up looking like the thread at the left. He waits very patiently for me to drop something on the floor and quietly spirits it away.
In my continuing quest for authenticity.....if this thread were subjected to DNA testing they would find traces of Morris's saliva on it..

That's a great idea using the thread! It looks as though he's made his own thread bed. lol
It must be a doggie thing - to chew on spools....and many other things. I had 3 that liked to "read" and one of those liked to chew spools and other sewing things. One day I saw her literally tiptoeing out of my sewing room with a 3 meter piece of fabric trailing along behind her. Two of them "read" the instruction manual for the satellite dish and the other "read" several of my favourite cookbooks. Guess that will teach me to be sloppy when I cook!
We have doberman that went through 3 remotes for the TV, a pair of SAS shoes, and at least a dozen plastic food containers in her first year. She is 8 years old now and we still have to put up any bread or cookies before we leave or the remnants of the packaging is all we find, scattered all over the living room, when we return home. She doesnt seem interested in fabric, thank goodness. Love the block.
Gerry: I love it! My dog Benny does the same thing-he has eaten 3 spools of thread. The only difference is that there is no piece of thread left that is longer than 1/16 of an inch. I like Morris thread nests better-more useful! Amy in LA
