Hit by lightening but still stitching!!!

I hope you missed me as I've been gone since Monday when our house was hit by lightening... It destroyed the microwave, phones, internet router, light bulbs, plugins,  and a couple circuit breakers.  Luckily the computers, furnace and heat pump were spared and there was no fire...  It happened during the night and I thought a tree had fallen on the house because it shook so violently... We were running around the house and yard with flashlights (in the rain in our nightclothes)  checking everything.  It was truly scary and I slept little that night worrying that there still could be fire if something were smoldering. It took me all this time to get settled and I'm still waiting on the electricians.

I But I'm still stitching and finished the first of about 20 little birds for my jacket.  It is my rather drab little wren but since I love him so he gets a prime spot when I start appliqueing them on.  I add the legs and beak after they're on.

I'm currently working on a hummingbird and a bunny.  I loved pulling out the ring of my browns to select the perfect colors for my "bunny ring."

And have to share my "Austrian Copper" rose which is completely engulfed by junipers and other shrubs....but rises above it all in a blaze of glory....  Glad to be back.

Yikes, we had a near miss with lightning when we lived in Nanaimo and that was scary enough. I'm glad there wasn't more damage. I don't think I would have got any sleep after that. I love your little wren too - I remember you saying that they were one of your favourite birds. I can hardly wait until they start appearing on your jacket.

I am so glad you are all OK! Things can be replaced, but our precious Kruegers cannot.

how frightening but how lucky too that the house did not catch fire, amazing that the computer survived as you lost most electrical things. Your wren is so lifelike, we used to have one nest in the ivy growing up next door`s house but they pulled it all down last year, not sure where it nests now

So glad you are ok and it's just "stuff" that was affected. Loving your wren and plans for bunny!
We had a small earthquake earlier in the week and had a similar evening of running around trying to figure out what happened, though thankfully, we had no damage. Just shaken nerves!

Wow that's pretty scary! Glad you are OK. It didn't see to effect your stitching and that's a good thing. Your birdie is sweet.

Gosh so sorry about your lighting strike! It's great we have our handwork to take our mind off our problems isn't it!

Blaze of glory indeed! Your so lucky your house wasn't ablaze from that lightning. Go away for a while and look what happens. I'm glad you are all right. I love that little wren. I've got a pair in my bluebird box right now. I tried taking out the sticks twice, encouraging them to move elsewhere but they had nothing of it. I love them too so I've let them be. xoxo Susan
