My golden peacock is finished!

This RR was a special personal challenge and every block has been an adventure in searching for new ways to explore with inexpensive gold materials..  This block is finished and I've used
7 different gold braids
2 kinds of gold cording
At least a dozen different kinds of gold  glass and metal beads
5 different kinds of gold threads
various gold buttons
4 kinds of pearl beads
sequins and crystals

In the process I've fallen in love with the Kreinik metallic threads.  I was nervous about using it to do bullion stitches for the feet but it was great. I tried felt padding and top stitching over laid cording....both new techniques for me.

The funky leaves are actually gold metal hearts I've saved forever to use as leaves...  Also I replaced the patch that was fraying.

Oh Gerry, this is a masterwork! Not only do I think you have once again raised your own personal bar (no small feat in itself), but I think this peacock will be remembered and talked about for years to come. It is the more gorgeous peacock I have ever seen!! And you just whip these gorgeous things out as easily as you whip up dinner. I will go pick my jaw up off the floor now. Hugs, Cathy

He's just perfect, Gerry. And you are so right about the limb and leaves. It wouldn't have been quite the same without them.

Amazing! I've been following your blog, each step of this peacock was amazing. I wish I had been in this round robin so i could have some of your stitching.

Oh, my goodness! This is gorgeous. If it looks this good in a pic I can't wait for Wendy's blocks to get around to me so I can check it out up close because I know pictures aren't as good as the real thing. (And it's going to be touch stitching a block for Wendy after you've done such a masterpiece. Nothing I can do will blend in !!!! )

There are so many wonderful things about this block...I love the different tail feathers with the buttons and beads...and it works so well because of the unifying color of gold...and those gold heart leaves are incredible. She's a regal work of art from sketch to finish...wonderfully wrought. just LOVE it!
