Where are those "big girl panties?"

A couple of updates..... I'm getting all of the laces and trims on two blocks... so I can stitch... A slight change of plans... I had made an extra block for the AAQ contest which last year had a deadline of May 31... This year it is March 7th...a big difference.. So I will do it first so I am certain of meeting the deadline.. I noticed that 95% of last year's entries were simplified with large borders and machine stitching... I was WAY too ambitious last year with my entry so am taking keeping that in mind this year...

Next I am making time to paint and continue to work on my celebrity pets. Only Morris is done (who is back in my good graces again.) I started this as a test to see if I might add pet portraits to my Etsy site....I've learned two things... It is too time consuming to be profitable and I don't like to paint fur... Another thing I learned is even though I thought it would be easier for me to paint dogs, the cats are much easier to paint... Doing their fur is much like painting bird feathers...very directional and following body contours...

I go to the dentist today and get the new crowns put on and then it's the "panties" part. The lambs need to be butchered... and the meat processor can't get here until Jan. 16. Since their shelter collapsed I can't leave them that long with no shelter... The alternative is for me to kill and bleed them myself and deliver them. It has to be done and I KNOW I have to do it... so the sooner the better...but it makes my heart hurt. Also I wish I could say all is well with my mother's move but is isn't and again I am having to find those "panties" and find a way to take it all in stride... Thank heavens the days will soon be getting longer...

Oh, Gerry... it definitely sounds like big girl panties time for you! Have a couple cups of courage and just do it, I guess... good luck and I wish you well getting your mother happy and settled.

Well, I think your pet buttons are awesome, and am especially enamored by the painting of Boomer, my feline furchild! :-) BTW, Bruce mailed your package of goodies late on Saturday afternoon via Priority Mail, so you should have them by tomorrow (Wednesday) at the latest.

And I know that living with farm animals means that butchering them is a part of the cycle of life (for us omnivores), but I hate it when our pigs get sold to market or someone comes in and hurts the animals (it does happen occasionally). I am not sure I could do it unless circumstances were dire. My hat is off to you, Ger. A true renaissance woman! Hugs, Cat

I don't know how you do it all. Butchering your own animals?? aaagh...I would be sick about it. You really are one tough cookie...

And Mom's move...not sure what's going on there but I'm not surprised. It's a lot of change and learning to live with others, new routines, new faces...loss of control...

I am sending you strength. As for those buttons...they are fabulous...I'd pay $20 for one if I was so inclined...the one of Morris is just awesome and the others are on there way to joining him...too bad I don't have any doggies or kitties for you to immortalize...hang in there Ger.

Sorry to hear mom's move has not been going well.

If I was near I would help with the lambs. I really would. I stayed summers with grandma and did all those sorts of things.

No matter what you paint I think it is awesome. You are like my dad and SIL who can paint absolutely anything. I admire the talent.

Big girl panties??? Well, let me tell you a story about my big girl panties...just today I put on a sweater and slacks and set off to my job. I worked half a day mostly sitting at my desk but did get up a few times to get coffee and go to the bathroom and problem solve with a couple employees. BUT, when it was time for lunch I walked down the hall to the lunchroom to heat up my soup and a pair of big girl panties fell onto the floor right in front of me. I had evidently been wearing them all day inside my sweater and the static cling wore off at that moment. Thank goodness I didn't have much of an audience and that they were one of my nicer pairs of big girl panties.

(As a back story...my husband does the laundry because he's retired and I'm not. This weekend he accused me of not changing my panties often enough since he didn't think he had washed a pair for every day of the week. And, now we know the rest of the story!)

I hope you find some help with all the "big panties" chores. I know how it feels.

And I was just hoping this early early winter means an equally early Spring!

Yes some big girl panties are definatly needed for that job. I can imagine it would be heartbreaking. I'll be thinking of you and sending "Be Strong" thoughts.
