A Handsome Frog Indeed!

My frog prince is coming along swimmingly.... and a handsome fellow he is indeed...  The antique lace was the perfect texture for his skin...

I took a lot of pictures of the process and will do a step-by-step tomorrow (or Saturday)... But I was working with 6 layers... interfacing, gold fabric, 3 layers of gold tulle and a layer of gold lace on top... And of course I used my cut-away transfer technique and found the perfect way to explain it better.    I took him with me today to a bridge luncheon and stitched before and after lunch, when my partner was declarer, and in the car coming and going... I hope to have him off to Australia by Monday.

I love the effect of layered tulle. They were different shades of gold and varying degrees of glitter...I must use it again soon..  So he is ready to cut out now and be sewn onto his lily pad...

Here's a scan of him pinned to his pad.... And don't you think he really needs a crown?

  2. He really is too cute for words and yes, a crown would just be perfect. I love the way you created the bumpy texture on his back. Oh, and happy birthday :).

  10. He is adorable!! I agree that the lace was a perfect frog skin but the beads you added to give his back the bumpy texture are my fave. Wonderfully conceived and executed! And happy happy Birthday (was it on the 7th?) !! I hope you did something really great!
